MOCA/COAX REPLACES CATEGORY CABLING AS THE

INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORK OF CHOICE

Cabling Challenges:

Widespread deployment:

Coax widely distributed to deliver cable and satellite TV

Category cabling for most homes, hotel/motels and MDUs is a retrofit

Result:

High cost of category cable retrofit coupled with disruption of use for commercial properties

Little or no cost for MoCA/Coax deployment

Bandwidth Capability:

Existing coax is a very large pipe capable of throughput well into the multi-gigabit range

    Category cabling must be constantly upgraded to achieve higher rates - CAT3, CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT7, CAT8

Result:

High cost of re-cabling (in addition to upgrading electronics) with newest category wiring to realize greater throughput

With MoCA achieving higher throughput requires upgrading electronics ONLY.  Cable plant still effective
